Lazy Otter Outfitters is located at Mile 43 along the famous French Broad Paddle Trail, between the Horse Shoe/Etowah and Westfeldt public accesses, and about 8 miles upstream from the Sierra Nevada Brewery. Whether you'd like to enjoy a fully outfitted adventure all along Henderson County's stretch of the river or just need a stop for your own expedition, Lazy Otter's campsite is a great place to lay your head.

Paddle and Camp Adventure

​

Paddle 11 miles of the French Broad through Henderson County, with the greatest intermission of all - a night by the river, under the stars! This is a great way to experience river camping without all the hassles of packing your gear on the water. You'll come to Lazy Otter HQ in the afternoon of your first day on the river, and we'll get you checked in to our private campsite on the banks of the French Broad. You can either bring all your own gear, or reserve our "Campsite Essentials" package (see below) to get you started.

Then we'll send you off on the first part of your paddle adventure, a 7-mile float from our private river access right to Westfeldt Park, where we'll pick you up and bring you back to your private campsite. A grill is available for you to cook if you want, or visit any of our local restaurants, bars or breweries including several within a few minutes of or even walking distance from Lazy Otter. Wake up bright and early for Day 2 of paddling, a 4-mile trip from the Horse Shoe access back to Lazy Otter, where your gear and car will be waiting for you. Easy, beautiful and fun!

If you're outfitting your own paddle trip and just need a place to camp along the way, you can book our camp site too.   Lazy Otter's campsite has a tent pad and picnic table, with the nearby gazebo and fire pit also available for your use. If you don't want to bring all your own gear from home, you can reserve our "Campsite Essentials" package, which will have all the basics here waiting for you.

Camp Site Only Prices

$60 for a maximum of 6 people (arrive by 5pm)

$70 for a maximum of 6 people (arrive after 5pm)

$30 for Camping Essentials package

Includes:

• One six-person tent for the group

• Sleeping pads (you must bring your own sleeping bags)

• Camp chair for each person

• One battery-powered lantern

• One bundle of firewood

• 5 gallons of water

Camp Site Rules

​

Out of respect for our neighbors, Lazy Otter's camp site is for enjoying the peace and quiet, not for partying! Any violation of the following rules will result in immediate eviction with no refund.

• No unaccompanied minors

• All campers must sign waivers (legal guardian must sign for minors)

• No more than six people allowed at any time

• Quiet hours begin at 9pm

• No fires outside the designated fire ring

• No amplified music

• All trash removed from site
