French Broad

Welcome to Lazy Otter Outfitters

Welcome to the French Broad River - nature's favorite stretch of one of the world's oldest rivers. Far from the rush and the roads, yet close to Hendersonville, Asheville and Brevard. See the French Broad the Lazy Otter way!

COVID-19 Update: Click here for information on our pandemic-related changes. Unfortunately we are not able to offer tubing or shuttle-only trips at this time.

Summer Update: As water levels drop in the summer, the Undiscovered French Broad can become somewhat more challenging for some paddlers. While still appropriate for novices because there are no rapids, when water levels drop there are more obstacles to maneuver around, and which might cause you to tip over if you hit them. When deciding whether the trip is appropriate for your group, ask yourself if all members of the group would be physically capable of swimming some distance in the river and getting back into a kayak if they fell out? We recommend at least one person in a group have some paddling experience, and that two novices do not try to paddle a tandem kayak together especially if there no other boats in the group that might be able to help them. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call for advice before booking.
